What is it?
Next Generation Parish is a two-year journey that offers accompaniment to pastors and parishes, cultivating apostolic ministry and a culture of missionary discipleship. Through spiritual formation, strategic planning, and leadership development, parishes will deepen individual discipleship, foster intentional worship, and embrace a missionary impulse.
Phase 1: Invitation (3 months)
- Pastors and parish leaders from across the diocese are invited to a “Come and See” session where they will have an opportunity to experience a preview of Next Generation Parish and explore what their parish’s journey could look like.
Phase 2: Discovery (6 months)
- Parishes take part in spiritual formation, pastoral leadership coaching, strategic planning, and apostolic ministry practicums to create a pastoral plan for the parish.
Phase 3: Accompaniment (12 months)
- Parishes implement the pastoral plan with the accompaniment of Leadership Consultants to instill an apostolic spirit in existing parish structures and refine parish practices to support a culture of missionary discipleship.
Phase 4: Reflect (3 months)
- Parishes will evaluate growth and address needed changes to the pastoral plan. Pastors and parish leaders will also be equipped with the tools needed to continue building on their parish’s apostolic vision.
