Catholic Leadership Institute is blessed to accompany the Diocese of Orange through Next Generation Parish (NGP), a four-year journey to impact every level of parish life. Throughout Next Generation Parish, there are opportunities to invite, inspire, and involve parishioners in the process of building a future for their parish.
At St. Anne Parish in Seal Beach, CA we have not one, but two Catholic Leadership Institute Board members as part of the team of volunteer lay leaders!
Meet Doug: A Dedicated Dad & Grandfather
CLI is grateful to have Doug as a member of our Board and our ministry. In addition to his success in sales, building a company, and serving a variety of nonprofits, Doug also has served our Nation in the U.S. Airforce. CLICK HERE to read Doug’s bio. Doug Stephen shared about his dual role as a member the Board of Directors at Catholic Leadership Institute and a participant in CLI’s Next Generation Parish:
“I serve in both of these roles with dedication. It is a joy to play a role in building the future of our Church! I have great trust in CLI. The ministry I have witnessed is excellent. Their love for our Church is strong. I admire how passionately their entire team works to support Church leaders.
The ministry is not about projects or programs. It is about laying a foundation for the future. It is about building a legacy.
Right now, my parish, St. Anne Catholic Church in Seal Beach, CA, is participating in CLI’s Next Generation Parish… we are hard at work to make our parish stronger and ready for the future. When we think about the future we must keep our parents, caregivers, and children close to our hearts.
The NGP team at St. Anne knows we must all be sharing Jesus in our parish, our community, and our homes. But that is hard work – we as Catholics must learn how to do that better…
How wonderful it would be to look back on this NGP experience and know that our work has helped more parents and children see Christ in their lives and share Him with others. As a grandparent of 15 beautiful grandchildren, I want to share Jesus’ love with them.”
Meet Andy: Ready to do the Work for the Next Generation
Andy is an invaluable resource to CLI’s mission and ministry. Andy has had a successful career in the field of tax, law, entrepreneurship, and leadership. He graciously lends his talents and vision to a number of nonprofits and company advisory boards. CLICK HERE to read Andy’s bio.
CLI – and Andy’s parish – are blessed to have him share his gifts as his parish looks towards the future. Andy shares,
“When I was invited to serve as a member of the Board of Trustees at Catholic Leadership Institute, I was ready to work for our Church. I had no idea how that work would evolve.
As a Board member, we have a great focus on the next generation of Catholics. As we work towards the future of our Church, we often think about creating a path for leaders to rise up and take our place.
Today, I also serve as part of the Next Generation Parish team at my parish, St. Anne in Seal Beach, CA. Our work is focused on the future. We are looking at data, some of which affirms our assumptions. Other data points out realities that surprise us and call us to action. We are creating a plan with goals to guide us. This effort isn’t just about creating a great parish today. It’s about doing the work to make our parish strong tomorrow, in five years, and longer.
One area we cannot ignore is that of our families and young people. If we do not bring them to know Jesus Christ, there is no use for a vision, an envisioning plan, or SMART goals. These great things are rendered meaningless without committed Catholics in the pews and working together to fulfill them. We must start today to disciple the next generation (and the next).”
Gratitude for CLI’s Lay Leaders
Amidst the many challenges we face in our world today, parishes may struggle to grow, adapt, and thrive. But we see so much hope. Next Generation Parish means supporting, and sustaining a Church for our children, grandchildren, and beyond. That is what inspires Doug Stephens and Andy Talley to diligently work for the future alongside Catholic Leadership Institute!
CLI is deeply grateful to Andy, Doug, and volunteers like them who are igniting hope and leadership in parishes across the country. Thank you.
